Wendy Hawkins
Wendy holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Social Work. She is a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and with the College of Nurses of Ontario (non-practising class). Wendy combines her past training and work experiences as a registered nurse and clinical social worker with psychotherapy. She assists others with emotional and psychological stressors that may play a role in the onset of burnout, chronic pain and illnesses. Counselling focuses on the promotion of a healing environment for one’s mind and body. Wendy has assisted numerous people in coping with a medical diagnosis.
For over 17 years Wendy has provided counselling and psychotherapy to patients of a community health centre. She has also led various community psycho-education classes on: Anxiety and Panic Attacks, The Body-Mind Connection and Healing, Self-Compassion, Coping with Life’s Stresses, Understanding Emotions, Parenting and Adjusting to Aging.
Wendy is certified as an EMDR trauma therapist. She also has advanced training in Deep Brain Reorienting. EMDR and DBR successfully treat conditions which regular talk therapy has been unable to address. As well, Wendy has her Advanced Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
